Adding Map Layer Tokens
Purpose/Overview
This article explains how to add, manage, and delete Map Layer Tokens in the system. The Add a Map Layer Token feature allows Company Admins to create authentication tokens and assign them to specific map layers, ensuring secure and controlled access. It also helps prevent duplicate assignments, maintain clear oversight of which tokens are applied where, and track changes through an audit history for accountability.
Navigation Path:
To access this feature: Utilisphere > System Management > Administration > General > Map Layers
Things to Know:
- Permissions: Admin-level access is required to add, update, or delete Map Layer Tokens .
- Restrictions: A single map layer cannot be assigned to more than one token at the same time.
- Read-Only Tokens: Tokens remain read-only until the map layer is disassociated from them.
Key Benefits/Use Cases:
- Efficient Token Management: Create, assign, and control multiple tokens for different map layers.
- Access Security: Ensure that only authorized tokens are used for specific layers.
- Audit Tracking: Maintain a history of changes for accountability and error correction.
How It Works:
Follow these steps to add or manage a Map Layer Token:
Log in as a Company Admin.
Go to Map Layers by navigating to System Management > Administrator > General > Map Layers.
In the Map Layer Overview panel on the left side of the screen, click Add a Map Layer Token.
On the Add a Map Layer Token screen, enter a Name for the token, the Token value, and select one or more Map Layers to apply the token to (at least one selection is required).
Click Save to add the token.
NOTE: If a map layer is already assigned to another token, you cannot select it. Attempting to do so will trigger an error message.
View and manage all tokens on the Map Layer Overview page by clicking the token’s name.
From here, you can update or delete a token (deleting a token removes it from all associated map layers) and view the audit history.
FAQ/Troubleshooting:
Q: Why can’t I save my new token?
A: Ensure no selected map layer is already assigned to another token. Uncheck those layers before saving.
Q: How can I change a token’s value?
A: You must first disassociate the token from its map layers. Once removed, you can edit the value.
Q: Will deleting a token remove it from all layers?
A: Yes. Deleting a token immediately removes it from any map layers it was applied to.
