Chrome prompts for password change due to data breach

Modified on Tue, Dec 19, 2023 at 5:43 PM

ISSUE

When attempting to log into DigTix using the Chrome browser, the following message is displayed:

A data breach on a site or app exposed your password. Chrome recommends changing your password on www.digtix.com now.

Figure 1: Change Password prompt

CAUSE

Google Chrome has a password checkup feature that warns if the username/email password combination you are using has been previously compromised.  It will suggest that you change it anywhere it was used.  If you are using a weak password, especially for multiple web sites, this message is likely to occur.

SOLUTION

This pop-up is not indicating that DigTix systems have been breached.  We strongly recommend you update your credentials as the warning suggests, preferably to a unique password.
