Calendar Widget Sign-On Loop Issue

Purpose/Overview

In this article, you’ll learn how to troubleshoot an issue where using the Calendar Widget causes users to be logged out or redirected repeatedly to the sign-on screen. This behavior typically occurs when browser security settings or cached login data interfere with the widget’s authentication process. Understanding how to resolve this issue will help ensure smooth access to calendar features within Utilisphere.

Things to Know:

  • Permissions: No special permissions are required to use the calendar widget.
  • Browser Compatibility:
    • Chrome: Users may experience session looping due to cached authentication data or blocked third-party cookies.

    • Edge: Similar issues may occur if cookies or site data are restricted.

  • Known Behavior: This issue may appear after prolonged sessions, browser updates, or when multiple Utilisphere tabs are open simultaneously.

Key Benefits/Use Cases:

Even though this issue can interrupt workflow, understanding how to resolve it ensures you can:

  • Maintain continuous access to scheduling and date-based tools.

  • Prevent unexpected logouts during data entry or ticket management.

  • Improve overall stability of browser-based sessions in Utilisphere.

How It Works:

Follow these steps to resolve the sign-on looping issue:

Step 1: Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

  1. Make sure you are signed out of Utilisphere.

  2. Open Chrome or Edge.

  3. Go to chrome://net-internals/#dns or edge://net-internals/#dns.

  4. Click the Clear host cache button.

  5. Close and reopen your browser.

  6. Use the following URLs to access Utilisphere (Do not use a bookmarked or auto-filled address):
    Production: https://www.irth.com/Utilisphere/logon.aspx
    CL: https://cl.irth.com/Irthnet/Logon.aspx

  7. Once logged in, verify that the display address is:
    Production: https://www.irth.com/Irthnet/default.aspx
    CL: https://cl.irth.com/Irthnet/default.aspx

  8. If the address bar shows the correct URL above, proceed to test the calendar and workload manager to see if you get signed out.

  9. If the address bar shows any other URL (https://wwww.irth.com/Irthnet/home.aspx or http://www.cl.irth.com/Irthnet/home.aspx), then repeat step 4.

FAQ/Troubleshooting:

Q: Why does the sign-on screen keep looping even after clearing cache?
A: Your browser may still be blocking third-party cookies or cross-site authentication. Verify cookie permissions for your Utilisphere URL in your browser's site settings.

Q: Does this issue affect all users?
A: Not necessarily. It usually depends on individual browser settings, cached credentials, or corporate security policies.

Q: Can IT administrators prevent this issue?
A: Yes. Administrators can whitelist the Utilisphere domain and enable cookie storage for authenticated sessions in Chrome and Edge.
