GPS Location Recognition

Introduction

This manual explains the new feature in UtiliSphere that recognizes GPS coordinates from text stamps on images. This feature helps verify the proximity of the location in the image to the ticket location.


New Features

  • GPS Location Recognition: UtiliSphere can now identify and store GPS coordinates from text stamps on images.
  • Proximity Verification: UtiliSphere checks if the location found on the image is in proximity to the ticket location.


Workflow

  • Image Attachment: Contractor attaches a JPG image file via API.
  • Location Stamp Check: UtiliSphere checks the location stamp at the lower left corner of the image.
  • Proximity Determination: UtiliSphere determines if the image stamp is in proximity to the ticket location.
  • Verification: Proximity results are used with other Photo AI verification rules.

Steps to Use the Feature

System Admin Setup

  1. Login as System Admin.
  2. Navigate to: Company Setup > AI Projects > Ticket AI Project.
  3. Verify: "Use lat/lon printed on image (OCR) instead of EXIF" checkbox exists.
  4. Check the Box.


Company User Setup

  1. Login as Company User or impersonate the company that the AI project is set up for.
  2. Navigate to: Ticket Summary > Select a Ticket.
  3. Add Photo to Ticket: Click the camera icon next to the action dropdown.
  4. Use Photo: Select the photos.
  5. Verify: Photos attached have latitude and longitude printed in the bottom right corner.

Verification

  • Valid Location: If the photo has valid latitude and longitude in proximity to the digsite of the ticket, it will specify.
  • Invalid Location: If it is invalid, you will see an error similar to the one below.

Threshold Setting

Navigate to: AI Projects page to set the threshold.
