Course Usage Tags: Connecting Courses to Certifications

Modified on Wed, Aug 30, 2023 at 12:19 PM

Course Usage tags are used to connect your courses to your certification tracks.   Think of them as a "label" for the specific certification requirement you need your students to fulfill.  You'll find that over time you accumulate a large collection of different courses.  Perhaps you offer 1-day training sessions for new-hire employees, and each month you copy your course for the new set of student.  Or, perhaps you have a training class that you vary slightly depending on the specialty of the students involved.  Course Usage Tags allow you to mark all related courses so that any one of them will count to fulfill your desired requirement.

Think of setting up your Course Usage Tags as labels for the requirement being fulfilled such as an "Elective" or a "Core English".   You may only have a "Basic CSR" training now, but perhaps later you will add an "Advanced CSR" training.    You can differentiate which courses count towards each of those by tagging them with the appropriate Course Usage Tage.

Creating or Editing your Course Usage Tags:

  1. From the main menu, select Setup
  2. Select Tags > + Create
  3. Type a name that represents the group of tags you wish to create (Example:  Course Usage Requirements)
  4. Select save to create your new tag category
  5. Once your new tag category opens, change the tag type to: Course Usage Tags
  6. Add any tags you wish to be available for use on your courses

Adding, Removing existing course usage tags from your courses:

  1. View your course overview.
  2. Select edit on the course usage tags section.
  3. Select the applicable course usage tags

The attached PDF offers a more in-depth explanation of Course Usage Tags, including how they are created and applied.
