Overview
UtiliSphere supports OpenID Connect to allow users to log in using their existing Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) credentials. This provides secure, company-managed Single Sign-On (SSO) access to UtiliSphere.
This guide outlines the steps required for:
Company Administrators to configure Azure AD integration with UtiliSphere.
End Users to link their accounts and begin logging in using Microsoft SSO.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
- Step 1: Provide Azure Tenant ID to UtiliSphere
- Step 2: Link Your UtiliSphere Account
- Step 3: Log In Using Microsoft Azure AD
Requirements
Before setup can begin:
- Your Utilisphere tenant must be provisioned and active.
- Your company must use Microsoft Azure AD for authentication.
- Utilisphere Support must enable OpenID Connect at the system level.
- Your Company's Azure Tenant ID must be provided to Utilisphere (see below).
Step 1: Provide Azure Tenant ID to UtiliSphere
For: Company Administrators
To enable Azure AD login, UtiliSphere requires your Microsoft Azure Tenant ID.
- IT or other personnel should sign in to the Microsoft Azure Portal.
- Navigate to Azure Active Directory > Overview.
Locate your Tenant ID.
Click the copy icon to copy it.
This ID should be sent to Utilisphere Support along with the request to enable Microsoft EntraID
? This Tenant ID allows UtiliSphere to connect authentication services for your organization. It is sometimes referred to as the "Directory ID."
Step 2: Link Your UtiliSphere Account
For: End Users (after company configuration is complete)
Once UtiliSphere has enabled OpenID for your organization, each user must link their UtiliSphere account with their Azure AD credentials.
✅ Consent Required:
The first user to link their account may be prompted to grant organization-wide consent. We recommend having an Azure AD admin perform this step initially. If not, a request will be sent to your Azure admins for approval, and account linking will remain pending.
To link your account:
1. Log in to UtiliSphere using your existing UtiliSphere username and password.
2. Navigate to your User Profile Settings.
3. Click the “Link Microsoft Account” option. (This will only appear once OpenID is enabled for your company.)
4. You will be redirected to the Microsoft login page.
6. Sign in using your Microsoft Azure AD email and password.
7. After successful sign-in and consent, you’ll be redirected back to UtiliSphere.
8. A confirmation message will indicate that your accounts are now linked.
Step 3: Log In Using Microsoft Azure AD
For: All linked users
Once your account is linked, follow these steps to log in:
1. Navigate to the Utilisphere login page.
2. Click the button "Sign in with Microsoft".
3. Enter your company Microsoft credentials (if not already signed in).
4. Upon successful authentication, you'll be redirected back to UtiliSphere and logged in automatically.
